Dave Myers Obituary-Death News; Hairy Bikers Star, Dave Myers Passes Away At Age 66
At the age of 66, TV chef Dave Myers, who was most known as part of the Hairy Bikers, passed away. Alongside his 30-year pal King, he became well-known as one half of the motorcycle-riding cooking pair.
When he participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 and advanced to week seven of the BBC competition, he paired with Karen Hauer, garnering him new admirers.
Myers, who was born in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, initially revealed in May 2022 that he was undergoing treatment for cancer, but he did not say which kind of the disease he had been given a diagnosis for.
The 66-year-old host took a short vacation from her job before filming the newest episode, which follows her journey from Scotland to Devon in the west of Britain.
In December 2022, Myers cheered and punched the air on a BBC culinary show to mark his comeback to television seven months after revealing he had cancer.
He had disclosed that he was receiving treatment for cancer in May of that year. Myers, who was recognizable for his long, dark hair, made a comeback to television with short hair and a striking red waistcoat with flowers on it.
He exclaimed, “I’m over the moon to be back!” to host and chef Matt Tebutt at the time. During the BBC Breakfast program preview, the chef made a joke about how he was “still breathing.”
Myers subsequently said, “It’s lovely to be back,” after joining King on the show. I can’t deny that this year has been difficult, and there have been moments when I have wondered if I will still be around for Christmas.
“I have to thank the medical staff in Birmingham who put me back together, especially the surgeon who helped me walk again and nurse Marion who used to bring me cake before my chemotherapy. The best banana bread you’ll ever taste.
However, it feels good to be back. Si has been taking care of me, putting dumplings and mince in my freezer. It’s wonderful to be back on Saturday Kitchen; I believe our last visit was fifteen years ago.
Myers has previously discussed his health issues, such as learning he had glaucoma, an eye ailment that can cause blindness.
In 2018, Myers disclosed that he had previously written the illness off as a nasty hangover.
King has also been candid about his 2014 experience with a brain aneurysm, which he said was only prevented from killing him by losing a significant amount of weight.
Myers began his career as a makeup artist and first got to know King in 1995 while he was employed on the television drama The Gambling Man.
In 2004, they made their television debut together on The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook, a combination travel show and cookery show in which the two traveled the entirety of Portugal on a bicycle.
The Hairy Bikers’ Cook Off, The Hairy Bikers: Mums Know Best, The Hairy Bikers’ Ride Again, and The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain were among the later programs.
In Hairy Dieters: How To Love Food And shed Weight, the couple chronicles their weight reduction journey. They set out to shed 2.5 stone in three months and easily exceeded their goals.
They started The Hairy Bikers Diet Club in January 2014, offering recipes and advice to help people live healthier lives without going hungry. The Hairy Bikers Go West, a BBC Two series that debuted earlier this month, features Myers and King on television.
