In 1956, he graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in Kansas City, MO, setting the stage for a life dedicated to service. Thomas proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, showcasing his commitment to both his country and his sense of duty.

On May 16, 1964, Thomas married Rita Plant in Kansas City, MO. Together, they embarked on a journey of raising three sons. His professional life saw him ascend from an Apprentice to a Foreman, working as a Printer at the prestigious Kansas City Star and Times. Even after retirement, he continued to contribute his skills in various post-retirement jobs.

Devotion to Faith and Community

Thomas was a devoted member of St Raphael’s Catholic Church in Kansas City and St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO. His spiritual dedication extended beyond the church as an Eagle Scout and a committed Boy Scout Troop leader for many years. Additionally, he actively participated in the Knights of Columbus Chapter 3414, forming lasting bonds with friends and his beloved wife, Rita.

Embracing Retirement and Family Time

Retirement offered Thomas the opportunity to savor life to the fullest. He relished the serenity of his lake home, immersed himself in volunteer work, and delighted in the company of his grandchildren. Together with Rita, he crafted the golden years into a tapestry of cherished moments and shared experiences.

As life unfolded, Thomas faced the challenges of his wife’s advancing illness with unwavering dedication. His final years became a testament to the enduring strength of love and the commitment he held for Rita.

A visitation, Knights of Columbus Rosary, and Mass of Christian Burial are scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2020, at St. John LaLande Catholic Church in Blue Springs, MO.
