Student Hospitalized After Stabbing Incident at Brookwood High School
Snellville, GA – A student at Brookwood High School in Snellville was hospitalized on Thursday following an incident of stabbing in a school bathroom, as reported by the principal.
In a communication addressed to parents, Principal Brett Savage initially stated, “A student was discovered injured in a school bathroom and was taken to the hospital for treatment.”
Savage subsequently issued a follow-up statement specifying that a student was stabbed in the restroom and that a classmate had been apprehended in connection with the incident.
“We recognize that this circumstance may cause concern, and we wish to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are paramount,” the letter stated.
The principal also affirmed that Brookwood High School “remains secure” and is adhering to its regular timetable.
During a later conversation with reporters, Bernard Watson, Director of Community and Media Relations for Gwinnett County Schools, mentioned that authorities managed to apprehend the suspect, who had exited the premises, within 35 minutes of being alerted.
He later mentioned that officers discovered a knife. However, Watson explained that he couldn’t discuss the condition of the student who was stabbed due to privacy laws governing students.
The names of both the victim and the arrested suspect have not been disclosed.
Watson reiterated a firm stance on the repercussions of such actions on campus, emphasizing, “Violence at Brookwood High will not be tolerated. It’s not only a violation of our student disciplinary code, but also against the law.”

Dear Brookwood High School Parents,
The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. With that in mind, I want to update you about the troubling incident I shared with you earlier today.
One of our students has been arrested after police say he stabbed a classmate in one of our restrooms. The student who was stabbed was transported to the hospital. Because of student privacy laws, I cannot share additional information about his condition, but I know you join me in wishing the student a speedy recovery.
To be clear, what happened today is unacceptable. The student accused of attacking their classmate is facing serious criminal charges and maximum school disciplinary consequences. Violence against students and staff will not be tolerated at Brookwood High School. As is the case in this incident, those who engage in this type of behavior will face appropriate criminal charges. I want to reassure you, we are taking this situation seriously. The incident was handled promptly and thoroughly.
Despite what happened today, Brookwood High remains a safe place. We must never lose sight of the fact that the vast majority of our students follow school rules and play a critical role in keeping our school safe.
