The veterinary community mourns the loss of Dr. Steven Servantez, a beloved veterinarian from Iowa, who recently passed away. Dr. Servantez was a highly respected member of the Badger Veterinary Hospitals Community, known for his dedication to professional development and his unwavering commitment to serving both his patients and his community.

His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his colleagues, friends, and the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin, where he served as a longstanding board member and contributed significantly to its growth and success.

Remembering Dr. Steven Servantez

Dr. Steven Servantez, a native of Iowa, dedicated his life to the practice of veterinary medicine and the betterment of animal welfare. Graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989, Dr. Servantez joined Badger Veterinary Hospital in 1992 as a small animal practitioner, later becoming a partner in 1996.

Throughout his career, he demonstrated a passion for professional development, focusing his continuing education efforts on exotics and internal medicine.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Servantez was deeply involved in various volunteer organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and notably, the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.

Serving as a longstanding board member, including multiple years as Board President, he played a pivotal role in the organization’s growth and success. Dr. Servantez was known for his generosity in giving both his time and talents to support the staff and animals at the shelter, often rolling up his sleeves to assist at a moment’s notice. His contributions extended to the design of the new HSSW building, a testament to his dedication to improving animal welfare.

Outside of work, Dr. Servantez cherished time spent with his family, including his wife Julie, their four grown children, and their beloved pets. He enjoyed photography, worldwide travel, music, and nurturing friendships, embodying a life rich in passion and compassion.

In Memoriam

In light of the profound loss experienced by the Badger Veterinary Hospital community, appointments will be rescheduled, and the Janesville Badger location will be closed on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd, to allow time for grieving and reflection. Normal operations will resume on Monday, March 4th.
