Pomona police have confirmed the arrest of Victor Siharath on Saturday following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of three women.
The incident occurred late at night near the intersection of White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard in Pomona. Siharath, reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, collided with another vehicle, resulting in devastating consequences.
Aly Mejia, spokesperson for the Pomona Police Department, revealed that Siharath had a prior conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol. The collision left all individuals involved moderately to severely injured, with two female victims tragically losing their lives at the scene. Four others were rushed to a local hospital, where another woman succumbed to her injuries.
The individuals involved in the crash have been identified as Alejandra Olaez (33), Yesenia Olaez (33), and Lorena Morales, who was driving the vehicle. Also in the vehicle were Juan Manuel “Jaime” Garcia, Morales’ husband, and Alejandra’s 12-year-old daughter. The group was returning home after attending a baby shower when the accident occurred.
Tragically, Yesenia Olaez was in the process of adopting her 11-year-old nephew. As of Sunday night, one individual remained hospitalized in critical condition. While one male passenger sustained injuries, they were not life-threatening. Siharath, who was the sole occupant of an SUV, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a felony offense.
The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the crash.
