Don’s early years were shaped by the love and guidance of his parents, Stan Treaster and Barbara Martin. Raised alongside his siblings Butch, Greg, Mark, Stan, and Tammy, Don cherished his family deeply.
Despite facing challenges, including the loss of loved ones and navigating life’s complexities, Don remained resilient and determined to make a positive impact. Educated in Sumter County schools and Central Carolina College, Don was a gifted mechanic and welder. His career spanned several prestigious companies, including Campbell Soup, B & D, and Man-Cor, where his skills and dedication were highly valued. However, it was during his tenure at GE Healthcare in Florence as an MRI Technician that Don truly thrived.
Known for his electrical expertise and problem-solving abilities, Don also demonstrated a deep commitment to his team and community. Outside of work, Don was a devoted family man. Married to Patricia Brown for many years, Don was a loving father to David and Tiffany and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. Despite the end of their marriage, Don and Tricia remained close friends. In his later years, Don found companionship and joy with Karen Cole, with whom he retired to Santee, indulging in his passion for fishing and cooking.
Don’s love for life extended to his hobbies and interests. A lifelong Gamecock fan, Don also had a passion for classic cars, proudly owning the fastest yellow Challenger in the Pee Dee. Despite his tough exterior, Don had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A man of integrity and loyalty, Don’s word was his bond. He valued honesty and friendship above all else, and those who knew him best remember him as a true friend who stood by them through thick and thin.
A memorial service held at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens on March 6, 2024, honored Don’s life and legacy. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
