Leamon Collett Obituary, Death, Beloved Resident Of Alex Creek Peacefully Passed Away
Leamon Collett Obituary, Cause Of Death – Mr. Leamon Collett, aged 77, a beloved resident of Alex Creek, peacefully passed away on the morning of Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home. Born on August 16, 1946, in Knox County, he was the son of the late Roy and Bessie Collett.
Leamon dedicated his life to serving as a former heavy equipment operator with the OEO. He held strong to his faith in the Holiness belief system. Leamon found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including deer hunting, four-wheeling, and, above all, spending quality time with his cherished family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Leamon was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son named Grant Dale Collett, and a brother named Steve Collett. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Geneva Collett of Bailey Branch; his children, Eugene Collett and Christy, Bessie Jean Jones and husband Lowel of Alex Creek, Malvie Baker and husband Arthur Leonard of Moore Creek, Roy Lee Collett and wife Kim of Alex Creek, and Mallie Lynn Collett and husband Doyle Grubb of Bailey Branch.
He is also survived by his sisters, Thelma Helton of Alex Creek, Martha Blankenship of Hale Creek, Mary Saylor of Flat Lick, and Elizabeth Messer and husband Vantory of Barbourville; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other beloved relatives and friends.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Leamon’s life will be held at the Salem Baptist Church on Thursday, March 7, at 2 P.M., with Rev. Demus Couch, Rev. Lonnie Collett, and Rev. Tim H. Mills officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Collett Cemetery.
The role of casket bearers will be fulfilled by Grant Jones, Lester Hensley, Preston Messer, Timothy Collett, Vantory Messer, Austin Collett, Leonard Saylor, Cody Fee, Lucas Hensley, and Daniel Hensley, while Jamie Burdine will serve as an honorary bearer.
Friends may pay their respects at the church from 6 P.M. on Tuesday until the time of the funeral on Thursday. Arrangements are entrusted to the compassionate care of the Knox Funeral Home.
