A publication that was made on Monday via a Facebook post that states “It is with great sadness that we share the news of Lee Sargent’s passing” was the one that made the unfortunate announcement that he had passed away. Lee Sargent was the son of Warren Sargent, who was one of our original partners. At the time that this report was issued, the specifics of the events surrounding the actual cause of death of Lee Sargent had not been disclosed to the public.
Mr. Lee Sargent Childhood and Instructional Years
During the year 1962, Lee started working for his father, Warren B. Sargent, on a part-time basis while he was still a student in high school. It was at this point that Lee’s journey into the field of engineering really got underway. It was anticipated of him that he would contribute to the construction team that was working on a number of projects, one of which was the new warehouse that was situated at the Ames headquarters (Arrasmith Trail). This was one of the early obligations that he was required to do. In 1965, Lee got engaged in the building of the wood cribbed grain elevator in Napier, Iowa. This elevator was located in the state of Iowa. His commitment to the relationship continued to grow over the course of the years.
After finishing his studies at Iowa State University and getting a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in the year 1970, Lee made the transition to working full-time for the firm that his father owned and operated. He began his professional career in earnest by accepting roles as a Structural Engineer and Drafter at the Ames office. This was the beginning of his professional career. This event served as the beginning of his career in the professional world.

As a consequence of Lee’s dedication and expertise, the business was able to provide him with significant opportunities for professional progression. 1975 was the year that he was elevated to the position of Vice President of Engineering, and in 1981, he was given more responsibility by being promoted to the post of Vice President of Operations. Both of these promotions occurred quickly after the previous one. Over the course of his work, Lee had the opportunity to become an expert in the design and engineering of a broad variety of industrial facilities. The offices of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Organization were held by Lee from 1983 to 2005. He served in these capacities beginning in 1983. When Jon Sargent takes over as Chief Executive Officer, this will guarantee that the transfer is as smooth as possible.

During the course of his professional life, Lee was a member of a variety of professional societies and maintained an active engagement in such associations. Both he and his wife, Sherry, have made Ames, Iowa, their permanent residence, and they take great delight in the time that they are able to spend together there. As a means of experiencing a difference in both the weather and the landscape, they go to Scottsdale, Arizona, during the winter months in order to take advantage of the opportunity.
