A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Scott’s legacy extends far beyond his role as a long-time truck driver for J.R. Tunstall Trucking. Scott was born to James and Janet Coughenour and grew up surrounded by the love of his siblings, Timothy, Jamye (Steve Matolyak), and Chris (Cathy Coughenour).
Tragically, he was preceded in death by his brother Timothy. Scott’s family provided the foundation for the strong and caring individual he became. In 1987, Scott tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Paula Coughenour, and they celebrated 37 years of marriage together. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Heather (Cory) Fanale and Helen Coughenour, who now carry on his legacy. Scott’s pride and joy were his grandchildren: Emma “Pookie,” Reed “Bob,” Ava “Peanut,” and Evan “Al.”
Professionally, Scott’s dedication to his work was commendable. He spent years behind the wheel as a truck driver for J.R. Tunstall Trucking, a commitment that earned him recognition for surpassing one million miles on the road. His exceptional skills also led him to pursue a passion for pro-stock truck racing, where he competed in NASCAR events at Motordrome and Jennerstown. In 1998, Scott achieved the title of champion at both tracks, leaving an indelible mark on the racing world.
Beyond the racetrack and the open road, Scott found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished moments spent on his back porch, savoring a cold beer in the company of his beloved dogs, Ozzie, Boo, and Fern. His love for his canine companions was as evident as his love for speed and competition.
Family and friends were at the heart of Scott’s happiness. He relished in the company of his loved ones, creating lasting memories with his family, grandchildren, and close buddies. His warm presence and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
