Ron Nasti’s death notice and obituary: The voyage that Ron Nasti took into the world of gymnastics started at a young age. He was born on June 15, 1965, in the bustling metropolis of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States of America. His skill and determination carried him to the peak of achievement, leaving an everlasting impression on the gymnastics world. He came from a modest beginning, but ultimately achieved the highest level of accomplishment. I must notify our Region of a loss that has already had a significant impact on a number of our coaches. It is with a great deal of regret that I do so. Over the last weekend, Ron Nasti died suddenly as a result of an illness that I contracted. In the name of our Region, I would like to extend our most sincere sympathies to Laurie, the Nasti family, and everyone else at GymNasti. So long, Ron!

The innate skill that he had grew when he was attending the American Academy of Gymnastics and being instructed by Larry Moyer. Even at an early stage, Moyer was able to detect Nasti’s potential and provided him with the necessary motivation and assistance to pursue higher levels of competition. At the same time that Nasti was honing his talents, his commitment and enthusiasm for the sport grew more and more apparent, therefore laying the groundwork for an extraordinary trip that lay ahead.

The Ascension of a Champion in the Context of Competition
The commitment that Nasti showed to gymnastics during his time in school resulted in remarkable accomplishments. Through his accomplishment of winning the renowned title of IHSA State Champion three times, he earned a place for himself in the annals of gymnastics history. It was during his time at the University of Iowa, when he was working for a degree in physical education, that he was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award. His accomplishments continued to skyrocket. Nasti’s abilities were further reinforced when he became a two-time NCAA All-American in the floor exercise and won the Big Ten Championship in the same event. Both of these accomplishments were accomplished in the same floor exercise.

After an amazing career in professional gymnastics, Ron Nasti began a new chapter in his life by becoming a coach and a mentor. He endeavored to cultivate the next generation of gymnasts by drawing upon the vast quantities of information and experience that he had. The American Academy of Gymnastics, the Bartlett Gymnastics Center, and the Illinois Gymnastics Institute were just some of the places where Nasti’s impact could be found. In 1997, he was able to make his goal come true by launching GymNasti Gymnastics in Carol Stream, Illinois. He had envisioned a supportive atmosphere in which gymnasts of all ages and abilities could flourish.

An enduring legacy of excellence: molding the future and igniting people’s dreams
GymNasti Gymnastics blossomed and developed into a pillar of excellence when Nasti was in charge of the organization. The trajectory of many gymnasts was shaped by him over the course of 27 years, and he was responsible for driving many of them to elite, college, and national levels of accomplishment. Nasti, who is well recognized for his teaching abilities, assumed the position of Elite Chairman for the Illinois State Board of Directors. During his tenure, he was honored with several awards, including the 1999 Best Coach Award and the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award.
