Boston’s Moxy hotel Murder-suicide

New information regarding the investigation of the two victims whose bodies were discovered at a hotel in the Theater District of Boston last week was made public by the Boston Police Department on Thursday.

Earlier statements made by investigators indicated that both the man and the lady who were discovered dead in a room on the thirteenth floor of the Moxy Boston Downtown hotel on February 26 had been shot, and that a firearm was discovered at the site of the crime.

Police in Boston announced on Thursday that the case has been classified as a murder-suicide and that both of the individuals involved have been identified.

According to the findings of their inquiry, Keith Ashby, a registered sexual offender from Boston, shot and killed Aanya Vinay, a resident of Brookline, who was 25 years old, and then committed suicide. The office of the chief medical examiner determined that Ashby’s death was a suicide, whereas Vinay’s death was a homicide.

POLICE REPORTS

At about 12:21 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to 240 Tremont Street for a death investigation. On arrival, officers located two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has since been identified as Aanya Vinay, 25, of Brookline.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. Further investigation revealed Keith Ashby, 43, of Boston, shot and killed Aanya Vinay, then killed himself, and his death has been ruled a suicide
