Ex-boyfriend, 19-year-old Keisean Shaw arrested in deadly West Palm Beach shooting of Kelvi McCray
According to the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD), the fatal shooting of a woman by her ex-boyfriend occurred while she was engaged in a FaceTime call with three other individuals.
One of the individuals witnessing the call stated they observed the victim being shot in the back and head, as documented in the probable cause affidavit.
Subsequently, the witness positively identified the suspect from a photographic lineup, as outlined in the report.
According to jail records, the suspect, identified as Keisean Shaw, has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.
Shaw, aged 19, did not attend court proceedings on Thursday morning due to being hospitalized. Officers discovered him with a gunshot wound to the head in the same residence where the victim was found.
Law enforcement located both the suspect and the victim shortly after 9:40 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a shooting on West 13th Street, near Gaines Park, off North Australian Avenue.
They were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where the victim, Kelvi McCray, was pronounced dead approximately thirty minutes later.
According to the police report, Shaw was identified as the victim’s estranged boyfriend and was reported to still be residing in the same home with her at the time of the incident.
Detectives were informed that he had not handled the breakup well and had allegedly threatened her with a gun the night before.
Additionally, the affidavit mentioned that a warrant had been issued against Shaw on charges including aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic battery by strangulation.
