Ravindar Lalsandhu Car Accident: Wellston man charged after leaving the scene of fatal Florissant car accident.
Prosecutors confirmed that a St. Louis man fled the scene of a tragic collision in Florissant, leading them to charge him on Thursday.
According to reports, Wellston resident Ravindar Lalsandhu was charged of committing a class D crime by fleeing the scene of an accident that claimed his life. He is not listed as being in detention in court documents.
At a local hospital, the 72-year-old victim was declared deceased. According to Florissant Police, the victim’s family has requested that his identity not be disclosed.
A probable cause statement from Florissant Police states that the collision occurred on New Halls Ferry Road shortly after 7 p.m. in the vicinity of Cross Keys Road.
Lalsandhu struck the man crossing the street after pulling out of the Cross Keys Plaza parking lot, according to the probable cause statement.
Police were informed by a witness that Lalsandhu pulled over and went up to the man who was lying in the street after hitting him. The witness reported to the police that Lalsandhu returned to his vehicle and drove off after a short while.
According to the police, the car involved in the collision could be identified thanks to Flock cameras. The car’s registration plate revealed that the owner was a woman who would subsequently be revealed to be Lalsandhu’s fiancée.
When police arrived at the woman’s registered address, they discovered Lalsandhu unloading stuff from the car outside.
The woman claimed in a different interview that she persuaded Lalsandhu to come back to the spot after he informed her he had struck “something.” The probable cause statement states that Lalsandhu spotted a significant police presence at the area and fled once more.
Lalsandhu will be detained without bond upon arrest.
