The journey began in January 2023 when Captain Dan Kilian received the devastating news of a colon cancer diagnosis. Despite the formidable challenge, he exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, undergoing rigorous treatments. His transition to an administrative role within the Fire Department in October 2023 did not diminish his commitment, particularly in managing Emergency Medicine and Fire Prevention.
Setback and Tragic Turn of Events
In January 2024, a setback emerged, complicating his treatment and forcing a halt to chemotherapy. The situation took a tragic turn on March 4th when he received a terminal diagnosis with a short timeline. His wife, family, and firefighting comrades are left devastated by the news.
