Everett Moore Obituary, Death – On April 24, 2023, Everett A. “Bert” Moore, who was 83 years old and lived in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away and went to his new home in Heaven.
His parents, Andrew Moore and Mary Ellen (McMaster) Byerly, both passed away before his birth on December 28, 1939 in Pine Creek Township, Pennsylvania. He was their son. He was a member of the student body that graduated from Scotland School for Veterans Children in the year 1959.
Following that, Bert went on to serve his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Conflict, eventually retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after having served for a total of 23 years prior to his retirement.
The affection that he had for his nation was profound. Afterwards, he became a welder at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, where he worked for a quarter of a century before retiring from his position. As a Human Relation Facilitator at Letterkenny, Bert was responsible for training his coworkers about diversity.
He specialized in this area of instruction. His previous places of employment included Sears and Roebuck as well as the transportation department at Laurel Run Nursing Home. Over the course of 54 years, Bert was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class at King Street Church, where he was also a member of the congregation.
In addition to that, he was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Association Chapter 1063, and the Virginia Society Col. James Wood II Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Fishing, camping, and most importantly, working on the house he constructed and gardening were some of his favorite things to do throughout the years. At the Boys Club of Norfolk, Virginia, as a Webelo Scout Leader, and as a coach and manager for Little League Baseball, he acted as a mentor to young men and provided them with guidance. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Kay E. (Deamer) Moore; two children, Erick Moore and his wife Georgianna and Mary Moore Reicheneder and her husband Rudy; four grandchildren, Patrick and Jennifer Moore and James and Rachel Griffin; two step-sisters, Sandee Young and Jacki Weaver; a wonderful sister-in-law, Georgiana Deamer Hoffeditz; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife. His biological parents were not the only people who passed away before him; his foster mother, Rella Crum, his in-laws, Edna and Roy Deamer, and two brothers, James and John Moore, also passed away before him.
