Claxton Johnson Obituary, Death – It was on Saturday, March 9, 2024 when Claxton Leonard Johnson, who was 82 years old, passed away at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

In spite of the fact that Claxton was born in Chatham County on March 12, 1941, he remained a resident in Siler City, North Carolina, and a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church throughout his whole life. People from all over the country knew Claxton simply because he was the proprietor of Johnson’s Restaurant, which was famed for its cheeseburgers.

In 1946, his parents established a restaurant, and from the time he was five years old until he retired, he could be found behind the grill, preparing meals and engaging in conversation with his numerous friends and customers. A skilled marksman, Claxton served our country in the Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge on March 31, 1967.

He was a member of the Army National Guard. His parents, Clyde Leonard Johnson and Evelyn Christine Johnson, passed away before him. He was the only child in his family. His wife, Frances Johnson, his daughter Carolyn Johnson Routh, his son-in-law Daniel Routh, and his grandsons Tristan Stuart and Caemon Stuart are among those who are able to carry on his legacy.

At the Smith and Buckner Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2024, there will be a visitation from six to eight o’clock in the evening.

It is scheduled that the funeral service will take place on March 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Loves Creek Baptist Church in Siler City, North Carolina. Pastor Lee Callicutt will preside over the ceremony. Next, the burial will take place in the church cemetery. The following individuals have volunteered to serve as pallbearers: Austin Hefflefinger, Lane Martindale, Allen Johnson, Lynn Scarlett, Brad Long, and Dale Craven.
