Bruce was a past Fire Chief of the Year who shown an unrivalled level of commitment to fire safety. He passed away after many years of service with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.
I was on the CAFC Board with Bruce for a long time; he was a great leader in the Canadian Fire Service, and while he offered me the chance to work with him in Calgary, I chose to remain on Prince Edward Island. I am very sorry to hear this news.

Bruce was a great leader in the Canadian Fire Services and gave the CAFC steadfast support and direction. His lobbying, expertise, and insight were beneficial to the organisation. Many had sufficient faith in his talents and leadership.
Bruce’s guidance and leadership helped a large number of the Fire Chiefs in the CAFC Association become better professionals and leaders overall. His colleagues in the fire department throughout Canada will miss him. The family will make Bruce Burrell’s funeral plans public when the time comes. The public will be informed as soon as more details on Bruce Burrell’s cause of death become available.
