After enlisting in the United States Army Reserves, he decided to devote the first eighteen years of his life to serving his country, exemplifying the principles of honor, duty, and devotion. Bill’s duty was not confined to the military; he also helped his community through his membership in Daniels Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and conveyed joy and harmony through song. His contribution was not restricted to the military. Bill, a man of many talents, was a great mechanic who pursued his passion for fixing things with unequaled ability and determination.
He was a man of many talents. It is a credit to his entrepreneurial spirit and his determination to carve out his own path that he worked for himself throughout his whole life. Whether it was through his scooter business or his trucking company, Bill left an unmistakable impression on the world of business.
He earned the respect and admiration of everyone who came into contact with him. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bill was a man who lived life to the fullest and cherished every moment of it. He was a private pilot and a fan of the open road, and he discovered that the freedom of flight and the excitement of the journey brought him both consolation and delight.
His Honda motorcycle was more than simply a means of mobility; it was a representation of his spirit of adventure and his enthusiasm for life. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend, but above all things, Bill was a devoted friend.
Over the course of 61 years, his marriage to Janet Kerestes Alvey served as a demonstration of the unwavering love and dedication that they shared. In addition to being his greatest source of pride and happiness, his children, Dean and Annette, were also his closest companions and confidants.
Additionally, his grandchildren and great-granddaughter brought an incalculable amount of happiness and laughter into his life, leaving him with memories that he would remember for the rest of his life for all eternity. While we are gathered here to say our goodbyes to Bill, let us not be saddened by his passing but rather rejoice in the extraordinary life that he led.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the memorial ceremony that will be performed in celebration of Bill’s life will take place at Daniels Lutheran Church in Lincolnton. All those who have gathered to pay their respects will be the recipients of words of consolation and comfort from Reverend Ralph Kraft, who will preside over the service.
The family would like to extend an invitation to friends and loved ones to join them in a moment of recollection from 10 to 10:45 in the morning, prior to the funeral. As an alternative to sending flowers, the family prefers that memorial contributions be sent to an animal charity in honor of Bill’s love and care for all creatures, no matter how big or how small.
In addition to remembering Bill’s memories, let us also remember his generosity, his kindness, and the legacy of love and service that he leaves behind for later generations. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the good fortune to know him, even though he is no longer physically present.
