Bill Smith Obituary, Death – It is with the deepest sorrow that we must inform you of the sudden demise of William “Bill” Chooch Smith on October 22, 2023, when he was 77 years old. He was the only son of Viola and William Smith, both of whom have passed away, and hails from Sydney, Nova Scotia. In addition to being the cherished husband of Linda Daniels-Smith, Bill was also the father and grandfather of Shaun and Nicky Smith, Kristina and Mark Trollip, and the stepfather of Scott Daniels and Elise Brochu.
Jacob, Emma, Nathan, Oliver, Kaiden, and Joshua are blessed to have such a wonderful granddad. Bill worked for Caterpillar Canada for forty years, played Old Timers Hockey in Burlington for thirty-five years, was a member of Oak Gables Golf Club, The 447 Wing, and St. John’s Anglican Church in Ancaster, and was a much-loved part-time Funeral Directors Assistant and Grounds Person for Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home in Ancaster. Bill passed away on April 15, 2019. His numerous friends and families in Ontario and Cape Breton will miss him, particularly Doug and Linda, Sue and Ron, Janor, Tom, Nelson, Frank, Jim, Steven, and Norm. He will be greatly missed.
Pisgah resident Bill Smith, who had reached the age of 69 when he died away on July 18, 2023, was a member of the community. The 11th of October, 1953 found Bill being born in the town of McCool, Mississippi. Bill had a life that was rich in experiences, and he left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
He served his country with distinction as a Green Beret and as a veteran of the United States Army who served in the 82nd Airborne. Strong character was demonstrated by Bill’s bravery and dedication to his military service, which were both examples of his bravery.
Bill was also quite proud of the fact that he had worked for the Los Angeles Police Department as a police officer. Following his time in the military, Bill went on to achieve success in the business world. Through his great service, he was able to cultivate long-lasting relationships with his clients at both of the convenience stores that he owned and maintained. Bill pursued another passion by owning and operating his own 18-wheeler in addition to managing the businesses. He did this in addition to managing the stores.
Bill is survived by his wife of twenty years, Dottie Smith; his daughters Mallory Gurley, Madisson Gurley, Courtney Smith, Candace Crockett, Christy Thornton, and Danielle Shaeffer; his friend Melody Smith; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; two fur babies, Lucy and Charlie; other relatives and a large number of friends.
Noelle William Lott and his parents, Irene Humphrey Smith and Bill Smith, passed away before him. He was the last surviving member of his family. There were many other activities and interests that Bill loved, which exemplified his lively personality.
Among his hobbies were fishing and hunting. Bill’s passion for mingling with others brought him to make friends from a diverse range of backgrounds. Bill found happiness in the straightforward pleasures that life had to offer, whether it was mowing the grass, sitting on the porch, listening to music, or working on woodworking projects or other activities. Members of Bill Smith’s family and friends are left with a hole in their hearts as a result of his passing. On the Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, there will be a visitation conducted at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes-Brandon, which is located at 1360 W Government St, Brandon, Mississippi 39042.
The purpose of this event is to commemorate his memory and celebrate his life. A memorial service will thereafter take place at the same site from six o’clock till six thirty o’clock. It is certain that Bill will be remembered for all time as a person who possessed a strong will and a heart that was filled with love and compassion. His unflinching commitment to his loved ones and his unflinching spirit will continue to serve as a source of motivation for everyone who had the extraordinary opportunity to know him. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Bill’s name to a charity or organization that provides assistance to veterans, or to a charity of your choosing.
