Peter Gunning Obituary, Death – My father, Peter Gunning, passed away recently, and it is with a great deal of sorrow that I share this news with you. After a year of battling aggressive pancreatic cancer, he passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday night while surrounded by his family. He had been battling from the disease. Following the diagnosis, he continued to exhibit the pragmatism for which he was known.
He made the most of the precious time he had with his friends, family, and his passion for automobiles, all the while ensuring that others were cared for in the same manner that we had cared for him. In addition to being a pillar of our family, he will be remembered as a man who was honest, had integrity, and upheld ideals that were unwavering. As far as I am concerned, my father was the individual whose viewpoint I appreciated the most, and he is the individual against whom I evaluate all others. Peter will be greatly missed as a friend, a parent, and a spouse.
He will be greatly missed. A funeral service for him will be held at Banbury Crematorium on Thursday, March 28 at three o’clock. The Crown Point. Michael John Gunning, the son of Leonard “Tickle” Gunning and Marion E. Blakely Gunning, was born on May 2, 1936 in Ticonderoga. His parents were named Michael John Gunning. After completing his high school education in Ticonderoga, he went on to have a highly successful career with International Paper Company.
Following a protracted and incapacitating illness, he passed away on November 26, 2021 in Elderwood Nursing Facility. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. As a sports enthusiast, Mike participated in a wide variety of activities, including but not limited to: hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, playing baseball with the Chilson Blacksox, officiating basketball games, and his all-time favorite, golfing.
As a member of the IPCO squad, he won a number of trophies and prizes, had two consecutive years in which he was the club champion, and had many more years in which he finished in second place. Card games, long walks, all kinds of animals, and country music were some of his favorite things to do. He was a huge fan of country music. at addition to being a devoted communicant of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Crown Point, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ticonderoga Band of Officers and Engineers.
Bernadine Gunning, Michael’s wife, as well as his two step-sons, Scott Munson (and his wife Pam) and Eric Munson (and his wife Tammy), his step-granddaughters Megan Mero (and her husband Jon) and Brianna Feliciano (and her husband Ty), and his step-great-grandchildren Paityn, Grayson, and Jaxson Mero, “MJ” and Josiah Feliciano, as well as his brother-in-law David V. Bruce, are among those who survive Michael.
