Story of Myself, Sara On a day in October, she appeared to be very diminutive, with spindly legs and a large afro, wearing a scarlet jacket that seemed to embrace her completely. She possessed a face that would be desirable to an angel. This was the very first time I had seen my Sara. She is and always has been my daughter.
The moniker “Sunshine” was given to her as she progressed through life, and it was a good fit for her nature. Her life’s journey was full of unexpected turns and twists, yet she never gave up and never gave in.
The people that were her “Sunshine” were Daniel, Julisa, Jamal, and Tysheema. The four children that she had, of whom she was extremely proud. She paid a visit to her fellow patients at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, and she smiled goodbye to them before informing them that she was leaving for home.
After a few minutes had passed, God removed the clouds from the sky, extended His strong hand, and spoke to Sara, saying, “Yes, My Child, You Are Coming Home.” She is survived by: her four children, Tysheema, Jamal, Julisa and Daniell; her mother, Dorothy (Wilson) Lawrence of Garfield, NJ; her aunt, Frances Davis of Brooklyn, NY; her sister, Alisa B. Lawrence-Johnson; nephew, James; nieces, Alexis, Regina and Josiah; special friends; Tawnya Best, god-daughter; Telaya Best of VA, Yvette Hill and Doris Hill; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
On Friday, September 7, 2018, she went back to the loving arms of God, more than 25 years after she had left. Passaic, New Jersey is where Nakkia was born and raised. She received her education within the Passaic School System and, in 2013, she graduated from Passaic High School.
Over the course of her career, she worked as a self-employed child care provider for her newborn cousins Jaire, Kaiden, and Zoe, in addition to other children. Nakkia’s grandparents, Velma E. Williams and Benjamin Washington, as well as four uncles, Mark and Jeffrey Williams, Kenneth Simmons, and Darrell Edmonds, as well as one aunt, Christine Williams, passed away before she was born.
Nakkia leaves to cherish the precious memories, her parents Chenire and Rachel (Cindy) Simmons, and Brian Edmondson; two brothers, Dajour and Zhamir Simmons; four sisters, Kataisja Williams, Aaniyah Simmons, Ivy, and Chantice White, one nephew; KaMaree Williams, her grandparents; Johnny James Williams, john Simmons, and Sandra Edmondson, her uncles; Sylvester West, Pervis, James, and Darrell Williams, Joshua, and Javon Simmons, aunts; Sheila and Shernette Williams, Leslie Merkerson.
Sabriya Simmons, Darlene, Joann, Christina, and Mary Edmondson, godparents; Frank Quiles, and Tishobie Porche- Jones, devoted best friends; Sade Talley, and Raquel Nelson, god children; Jahmez Walker, and JaKaila Johnson, dear cousins; Tysheema, Jaqueena, Pervis, Shaneeque, Tinnika, Tinnaya, Dominique, Shanice, She also leaves behind a large number of other cousins, relatives, and acquaintances whom she loved very much. She does so with full trust.
