Will Hendry Obituary, Death – Upon hearing the news this morning, I was deeply saddened to learn that my dear buddy Will Hendry had passed away. Throughout the years, we shared a lot of laughs and a lot of beers at a variety of pubs. I even made the trip to Barton Upon Humber once to have a beer and catch up with him when he was running The Queen’s. Furthermore, he was an exceptionally talented chef; I will never forget the breakfasts and Sunday lunches that he prepared at The Tavern.
An outstanding gentleman who possesses a heart of gold, a cheeky sense of humor, and is a wonderful friend to me as well as a huge number of other people. Regarding all of his family and friends, my thoughts are with you. RIP Till we meet again, Will, I hope you are well.
Take care of yourself. Respectfully of Scottish and Irish origin, Bill was the eldest child of his late parents, Thomas Hendry, a coal miner, and Norah Coll Hendry, a grocer during the Second World War. Both of his parents passed away before Bill was born.
As a patriotic citizen of the United States of America, Bill had been a longstanding resident of Rye, New York. Bill was devoted to his family, whom he loved deeply and to whom he was shown love by his family. When he was not with them, he spoke about them in great detail, expressing his pride and affection for them. He is survived by Louise, the woman who was the love of his life. The couple started dating when they were 17 years old, and they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary together in July of this year.
Unfortunately, he is leaving behind his devoted children Jennifer Hendry Cunniffe, Thomas Hendry, and Laura Hendry Costello, as well as their spouses Casey Cunniffe, Anna Hendry, and Chris Costello, whom he loved as if they were his own. The seven grandkids that Bill had named Finn William, Kiera Jude, Isla Grace, Dermott Fisher, Fianna Louise, William Bear, and Grace Gemmell were the source of his greatest happiness and the accomplishment of which he was most proud. Taking his grandchildren to school, swim meets, dance recitals, soccer matches, and hidden trips to the candy or toy store were some of the ordinary everyday moments that he greatly enjoyed.
He was a doting grandfather who took great pleasure in these moments. He was so ecstatic by their achievements that he couldn’t help but be amazed by even the most basic among them. He is survived by his devoted sisters Rosemary Hendry and Grace Hendry Nash, as well as their spouses, John Fegan and Gerry Nash, both of Glasgow, Scotland; his brother John Corr, who was his lifelong buddy; and an innumerable number of nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Billy. Bill was a gentleman and possessed a wonderful mind.
He had a remarkable career in finance that lasted for fifty years as of this past May. The United States of America, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Canada, the Middle East, and Africa were among the countries in which he held prominent banking posts. Bill worked for the Bank of Scotland for a total of 42 years, beginning his career as a bank teller in Glasgow when he was only 17 years old. He retired from the bank in 2009 as the Chief Executive Officer of North America. It was most notably at Drive Financial Services, where he oversaw the HBOS plc investment analysis group before becoming Chairman in the year 2000, that he gained a significant amount of knowledge in the field of mergers and acquisitions.
His affection for his family extended to each and every coworker. All of the people he worked with were touched in both their professional and personal life as a result of his tireless mentoring duties. Bill, in his capacity as Chief Executive Officer, is well remembered for his habit of walking the floor of the Bank of Scotland every morning to personally wish everyone a good day with a friendly grin and a real concern in their good health.
