Death of Richard Moreton We are forced to announce with deep sadness the passing of Worcester resident Richard Moreton. Richard passed away in a tragic accident as he and his wife, Jane, were travelling through the northern area by train.

Everyone who knew them was stunned to learn the terrible news shortly after they had boarded the train.

We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Jane, Richard’s whole family, and all of his close friends during this difficult time of loss. For those who had the good fortune to know and love Richard, his death has left a gap in their lives. All those who had the unique privilege of knowing him will always have the utmost respect for his memory.

As the Moreton family navigates this difficult period of mourning and sadness, I hope that they will find solace in the priceless memories they had with Richard and in the support of their loved ones. We are thinking and praying for them at this horrible time.

For as long as I can remember, Richard has been a member of the Worcester Locomotive Society. He has never been too busy to help any enthusiast or member with any problem relating to trains, especially local ones. In actuality, he was always ready to help with any issue that came up.

He sent me the arrival and departure times for the Butts Spur line train, which I recall coming from a British Railways schedule from 1949. Furthermore, he turned over 350 old railway photos that had been kept in his attic since the 1960s barely a year ago. When he placed them up there, he informed me they were ancient. On our club night in October 2024, in the year 2024, he was excited to see them up close on the big screen.
