Dorothy Shafer Obituary, Death, A Celebration of a Life Well-Lived
Dorothy Shafer Obituary, Death – According to Vancrest of Van Wert, Dorothy Shafer, who was 95 years old, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024. Her parents, Lawrence and Lucy (Buckmaster) White, welcomed her into the world on November 21st, 1928 in Middle Point, Ohio. Both of them had passed away before she did. On December 13, 1947, she wed Kenneth W. Shafer and became a member of the Shafer family. When he passed away on August 29, 1999, he came before her.
Dorothy is survived by her son Kenneth Shafer, who is married to Karen and lives in Spencerville; her daughter Sheryl Ball, who is married to Dale and lives in Convoy; her five grandchildren, James, Chris, and Julie Shafer, Erica Burkhalter, and David Ball; her three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, June Ernst of Van Wert, Iva Schmitt and Veda Mox, both of Delphos were survived by her. Dorothy’s brothers, Robert and Kenneth White, as well as her sisters, Clara White and Laura Shafer, passed away before she did.
Dorothy received her diploma from Middle Point High School in the year 1946. During her 17 and a half years at Meyer Cleaners, she also worked for a brief period of time at the cigar factory. After 22 years of service, Dorothy took her retirement from Aeroquip in the year 1994.
At the Middle Point United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the spiritual life of the congregation, she took on a variety of duties to aid her fellow members. It was possible to see her tending to her colorful flowers in the garden on days when the weather was particularly pleasant.
Her family was the source of the greatest happiness of her life. During the holidays, she cherished getting together with her friends and family to celebrate in a pleasant manner.
She is survived by her mother, her children, Harley Shaffer (Anna), Chelsey Shaffer (Robert), and Malea Shaffer (Vincent), her cherished grandkids, Zackery, Tomak, and Tava’esina Shaffer; Serenity Smith; and Luke, Isla, and Stella Belle Bopp; her good friends, Darlene Fyock and Juscinda Matlin; and her dogs, Chip and Tango.
In 1990, Bunny graduated from Forest Hills High School, where she was a member of the class. She had a kind and generous personality, and she loved without asking for anything in return. She adored spending time with her family and friends.
At the same time as she baked the most delectable gobs, she was a conscientious gift giver. At the Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc. in South Fork, friends will be received beginning at five o’clock and continuing until the time of the service at seven o’clock. Father Brian Warchola will preside over the ceremony.
