Sophia Barnes Obituary, Death – Notice of Death and Obituary for Sophia Barnes, Hattiesburg You, Mississippi A Life That Is Beyond Belief Remembered The death occurred on Monday, April 17, 2023, of Sophie Barnes (née Mosiewicz), who was 104 years old and lived in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Emmett E. Barnes’s devoted wife, who passed away recently. She was the cherished mother of Emmett G. Barnes and Audrey Barnes, who both passed away, Patricia Barnes, MD and Roger Dorband, Carolyn Spiro and Alfred Spiro, who all passed away.
I am the cherished grandma of Christopher Spiro, Lorraine Barnes and Sarah Eversole, and Joyce Barnes and Darron Burke. Jack Barnes-Eversole’s great-grandmother was named Eversole. It is also important to note that Sophie is survived by her beloved cousins, godchildren, nephews, and nieces. As the daughter of John and Constance Mosiewicz, who immigrated to the United States, Sophie was born on April 10, 1919 in Paterson, New Jersey. She was also the stepdaughter of John Lessuck. In addition to her sister Jane, she was preceded in death by her brothers Walter, Jules, Alexander, and George.
Throughout her entire life, Sophie was a member of Holy Cross PNC Church, which is situated in Woodland Park at the present time. During her time in Hawthorne, she was married in 1939, attended Eastside High School in Paterson, and resided there for more than eight decades. Sophie was employed at the printing branch of Prudential in addition to being a mother to three children and maintaining a family. Following her retirement, Sophie volunteered her time at Valley Hospital, which is located in Ridgewood.
Among the senior organizations in Hawthorne, she was a member of the Jolly Seniors as well as other older groups. During her vast travels, she went to each of the fifty states in the United States as well as numerous places in Europe, Africa, and Asia. It was very important to her to spend time with her family, friends, and neighbors. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening, and reading. Sophie stood out from other people due to her extraordinary kindness, warmth, and genuineness.
There are a huge number of people who will miss her tremendously since she is irreplaceable and they had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 21 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, which is located at 557 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, New Jersey 07506. After departing from the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday, April 22, the funeral will go to Holy Cross PNC Church, which is located at 220 Browertown Road, Woodland Park, New Jersey 07424, for a funeral mass at 10:00 AM.
