Christy Martinez-Garcia · The author of this text Wrote: It wasn’t a nightmare when I woke up. Roman Martinez, my younger brother, died away. It seems like a bad dream. First, may God rest his soul. Roman Martinez attended Lubbock High School and South Plains College before graduating. His hometown was Lubbock, Texas. Sammy Castaneda, Roman’s older brother, died in an accident in 201.
The brother of the Lubbock resident who was killed in a truck accident has posted a moving letter on Facebook about what happened, which he saw firsthand. Roman Martinez, Sammy Castaneda’s brother, posted an earnest message on his Facebook page in the wake of the multi-vehicle crash near 50th Street and Indiana Avenue.
Two people were on their motorbikes and waited at a red light when James Albert Pritchard, 49, struck Castaneda from behind with his Ford F-150 truck. Castaneda and Pritchard were thrown into other cars as a consequence of the collision. After being taken to Lubbock’s UMC quickly, Castaneda passed away from his wounds. On Facebook, Martinez posted a tearful tribute to his brother, calling Castaneda “an authentic devotee of God.”
The ride I had today was very remarkable and will always be etched in my mind. It was an honor to spend the day with such a remarkable guy and go with him on his farewell tour. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the chance to spend the day with him, maximizing his limited time on this earth.
The roads were clear for us to traverse alone now that the sun had risen. Unfortunately, the ride ended in a disastrous incident. My brother and I were engaged in an accident with another car when we were stopped at the red light.
He saw just one green light, and that was the one that led him into heaven. He was a pious man, and now I have a heavenly companion who will never leave my side. Death was really there, and I felt it hovering behind me. My own life was saved, but someone else’s life was lost that was important and valued.
We really will miss you. You may now take peaceful trips along paradise’s ethereal roads. You are my sister, and I love you very much. I apologise for any lack of reaction on my behalf and thank everyone who has given prayers. Peace be with you. Sam
After receiving minor injury treatment at UMC, James Albert Pritchard was released from the hospital. He was then charged with and imprisoned in the Lubbock County Jail for the second-degree felony of manslaughter. At the moment, his bond is $50,000 in value. Authorities believe alcohol drinking may have had a role in the collision.
In August, Pritchard became well-known on the internet after he was photographed in an alleged incident in which he allegedly used derogatory language and made threatening remarks to women and children in a Market Street parking lot—which is near the scene of the previously mentioned tragedy.
