Stephanie Ezzell Obituary, Death Cause – At her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on March 20, 2024, Stephanie Ezzell died away peacefully after a long and heroic battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Stephanie was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on March 29, 1951. Her parents, Perry Wilson Thompson and Jewel Hare Thompson, both passed away before her birth.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Walter Ezzell, who resides in Raleigh; her son, David Ezzell, who resides in Clayton; her sister, Angela (Jamie) Sugg, who resides in Kinston; her sister-in-law, Rebecca Ezzell, who resides in Kinston; and her nieces and nephews, Stephanie Ezzell Weigand and her two children, Vivien and Henry, who reside in Farmville; Ryan Bostick, who resides in Clayton; and Amber Bostick and her son, Tristen Bostick, who resides in Gates, North Carolina. Jim Ezzell, her brother-in-law, passed away before she did throughout her lifetime.
Having a baby sister was the one thing that Stephanie longed for the most when she was a child, and she was fortunate enough to get her wish granted when her beloved sister Angela was born. After receiving her diploma from Grainger High School in 1969, Stephanie went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Atlantic Christian College in 1973.
She was motivated to pursue this field of study by her own first-grade teacher. There, she would meet the man who would become her lifelong companion, Walter D. Ezzell Jr., and on September 7, 1975, the two of them would tie the knot. After completing her undergraduate degree, Stephanie went back to school to earn her master’s degree from East Carolina University. After the project was completed, Walter and Stephanie proceeded to expand their family by welcoming their son David into the world in the year 1980.
She went on to teach for more than thirty years at public schools in Aurora, Farmville, Winterville, and Garner, in addition to assisting in the training of individuals who were interested in becoming teachers at the educational level of community colleges. Stephanie was a selfless warrior who supported her family through all of life’s adventures, including multiple military deployments throughout the world.
She was the proud and devoted wife of a dedicated soldier, and she was a warrior who supported her family. Stephanie cherished spending time with her cherished friends and family, as well as traveling (especially to the neighborhood of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania), listening to music (especially beach music and Elvis), and going internationally. She was a woman that brought happiness and joy to everyone she came in contact with.
She was extraordinarily beautiful, strong, clever, kind, thoughtful, tender-hearted, and empathetic. Above all else, she had an immeasurable amount of affection for her family, her friends, and Jesus Christ. The innumerable people whose lives she changed over the course of her life will ensure that her legacy endures.
