Born in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 3, 1932, Edie was the beloved daughter of Wilbur Harlan and Bernice (Ebert) Horst, who passed away in 1932. Edie’s life has been influenced by the principles of compassion, community, and family since her early years. She was raised in a loving home where she was taught the value of empathy and generosity qualities that would come to define her throughout her life.

As a Mechanicsburg resident, Edie grew to be a vital member of the neighborhood. Her lovely disposition and pleasant smile made her amiable to everyone who had the honor of coming into contact with her.
