Accident: Maryborough QLD, Australia – It is alleged that the 13-year-old, who cannot be identified under Queensland law, was behind the wheel of a stolen car that collided with the rear of a Holden sedan on Saltwater Creek Road in Maryborough, which is located north of Brisbane, on the evening of April 30, 2023. The court was informed of additional delays, including the fact that a psychiatric report was still required, which resulted in the proceedings being sent back to the local region at that time. The attorney representing the child who was receiving legal help stated that subpoenas had been issued to the state’s health and education departments in order to obtain data pertaining to their client.
It was requested by the Crown prosecutor, Ashleigh Worthington, that video links be organized in Maryborough. She stated that the attorney may attend from the court in Maryborough for the scheduled arraignment that would take place in two weeks.
Ms. Worthington stated that “this offence did originate in Maryborough,” and that “there are a number of family members of the deceased (persons) who wish to be present by video link in order to hear the plea being entered.
” “It is the desire of the party that if the young person is arraigned prior to the sittings in April, the issue will be in a position to proceed to sentencing in the Maryborough list during the sittings in July. The court was informed that the District Court of Maryborough will not have a hearing until the month of April.
A specialized psychiatric report on the child addressing a brain injury would require more time, according to Ms. Worthington, who stated that the preparation of the report would take. Brisbane’s youth detention facility is where the child is currently being detained.
