The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office mobilized a significant operation at the dam, labeling it a “basic shutdown” as they focused on the area where the Cumberland River converges with Cheatham Lake.

A key aspect of the search involved sifting through debris that had surfaced from underneath the dam, with crews meticulously examining the detritus for any potential clues or items linked to Strain. The heightened search efforts underscored the urgency and determination to locate the missing student.

Family and Volunteers Join the Search

Strain’s family, along with law enforcement and volunteers from the United Cajun Navy, continued their search efforts in various parts of the Cumberland River on Wednesday. Ryan Gilbert, Strain’s father, was determined to find his son and actively participated in the search. He expressed his personal involvement, stating, “I have to be here.

I need to be out on the water. I wanted to be out there last week, but other family members took on that role. I’m grateful to be here now because I want to be the one to bring him home.” Gilbert’s unwavering commitment and dedication to finding his son were evident as he joined the search team in their efforts.
