Kathy Majka’s Death and Obituary: Kathy Majka, a faculty member at Marist High School, passed away. She was the devoted spouse of Dennis and the proud mother of two former students, Lauren ’08 and Megan ’15. On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the public was informed of her passing. She was adored by Marist High School students. As of the time of publication, Kathy Majka’s cause of death was unknown.

As news of Kathy’s passing circulated throughout the campus, the Marist community lamented the passing of a close friend and colleague. Her demise left a void that was difficult to fill, but her generosity, commitment, and sense of belonging to the community persisted at Marist College and beyond. Her family is in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time.

On Instagram, MaristChicago posted the following statement:

We announce the loss of Kathy Majka, a cherished member of our Marist family, with deep sorrow. Kathy spent almost twenty years working in our business office. She was the devoted wife of Dennis for more than 30 years and the proud mother of two alumni daughters, Lauren ’08 and Megan ’15. Kathy was a devoted follower of Saint Germaine.

Kathy adored serving the Marist students and being a part of this community. She was well-known for her keen wit and compassionate heart here at Marist. Forever, RedHawks are brothers and sisters. Together, we are more powerful when we all offer prayers and support to one another. Kathy’s family, friends, and coworkers are in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time.

Kathy Majka: who was she?
Kathy’s almost twenty-year tenure in the business office demonstrated her steadfast devotion to and loyalty to Marist College. She showed a strong commitment to the company and its goals during her tenure there, in addition to showcasing her professional expertise. One essential aspect of Kathy’s identity was her religious connection to St. Germaine, which shaped her interactions with peers and coworkers.

Apart from her work responsibilities, Kathy left a lasting impression on everyone in her path with her friendly demeanor and sharp mind. Many people in the Marist community were touched by Kathy’s empathy, whether it was for a friendly chat in the hallway or a supportive word after a trying day.

Kathy’s duties went beyond the confines of the business office; she found great joy and fulfillment in serving the Marist College students. During her employment at the institution, Kathy positively impacted countless individuals with her supportive comments, helpful aid with financial concerns, and attentive listening skills.
