Tragic events happened this past weekend in San Diego during the California State Winter Games. Despite the greatest efforts of first responders and top-notch medics, a terrible tragedy happened at the hotel pool, and Michael passed away.
Concerning Michael Huang
Michael had dreamed of being a figure skater, much like Michelle, his older sister. He got the advice to try hockey as he was too big during one of his skate sessions. When he did, his parents found it difficult to get him off the rink once he got going.
Despite his reserved demeanor, Michael liked to joke about and occasionally wrestle with his teammates and friends. He became proficient in hockey fast. After finishing skating school quickly, he signed up with the San Francisco Sabercats, one of the best teams in his age group.
With perseverance and more one-on-one work with mentor and skills coach Allen Lin, he quickly became a player to watch. He was moved up to the top 8U team in his first year. His mother wanted to thank the coach when he told her the news. “For what?” was the reply, given that I accomplished nothing. He deserved this,” she said, eliciting the biggest child smile you’ve ever seen. Michael leaves behind an amazing sister named Michelle, as well as a lovely mother and father named Susan and Li.
