The somber events began unfolding in El Paso on Saturday when Trempealeau County Dispatch received a distress call regarding a male worker trapped inside a water tank belonging to the City of Blair. Carlos Medina, employed by the city, was engaged in sediment removal from the tank using a lengthy tube. Despite signaling discomfort due to cold temperatures, Medina continued his work until tragedy struck. He became entangled in the suction tube, leading to his untimely demise despite efforts to rescue him.
Meanwhile, in Rock County, 29-year-old Patrick Preston of Beloit fell victim to a hunting accident. The incident occurred when a young boy, aged 11, alerted residents that his father had been shot in the vicinity. Emergency personnel discovered Preston with a gunshot wound to the abdomen in a wooded area, but their efforts to save him were in vain. The sheriff’s office confirmed the incident as a “tragic hunting accident” following investigations.
