New Jersey Resident Claims $1.13 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot Prize
In Tuesday evening’s Mega Millions drawing, a sole ticket purchased in New Jersey matched all the winning numbers for the $1.3 billion jackpot.
The winning numbers drawn were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, along with the gold Mega Ball 4.
Additionally, thirteen tickets from nine states eligible for Mega Millions matched five numbers, each winning $1 million.
One of these tickets had a multiplier, increasing the prize to $2 million.
Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot win marks the sixth instance where the prize has exceeded $1 billion, making it the fifth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
Prior to this win, there had been 30 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner since December 8.
The current jackpot prize has a cash value of $537.5 million, offering winners the choice between a one-time lump sum payment or 29 annual installments.
According to Mega Millions, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with tickets priced at $2 each. The largest Mega Millions jackpot prize ever won was a $1.6 billion jackpot on August 8, 2023.
