Rotterdam, New York – The community of Rotterdam mourns the loss of Thomas Gregory, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer. He was 43 years old.

Thomas, affectionately known as Tom, was born and raised in Voorheesville, New York, to his parents Rance and Jill Gregory. He was a dedicated husband to Brooke M. Gregory for over sixteen years, and together they shared a bond that was strengthened by love and devotion.

Professionally, Thomas held the position of Office Assistant 3, Principal Clerk with Local Union CSEA while employed by the New York State Police in Albany with Department Troop T. Outside of work, Thomas was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed watching football games while savoring good food.

However, Thomas’s greatest joy came from being a devoted father to his children, Sadie and Henry. He cherished every moment spent with them and took pride in being Sadie’s “Dance Dad” and sharing his love of sports with Henry. Family vacations to Douthat State Park in Virginia were treasured memories that Thomas held dear.

A graduate of an Upstate New York alma mater, Thomas had a love for football that began in his youth. He played with fervor and dedication, always giving his best on the field. His unwavering spirit in the face of cancer, coupled with his sense of humor and faith in God, will be remembered as part of his enduring legacy.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Brooke; his children, Sadie and Henry; his sister, Amy (Greg) Palmer; his mother-in-law, Trish McCluskey; his paternal grandmother, Penny; five nephews, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, his paternal grandfather, and several other aunts and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY, on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00 pm, with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the names of Sadie and Henry Gregory at the Sunmark Credit Union. The family expresses their gratitude to the Rouse family for their years of friendship and support, as well as to the entire team at NYOH and the NYS Police for their compassion and care during Thomas’s illness.

Thomas Gregory will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
