After a stabbing spree in Rockford that resulted in four deaths and five injuries, a man has been taken into custody.
The incident occurred around 1:14 p.m. Wednesday near Egglestone Road and Cleveland Avenue.
Initially reported as a home invasion, the situation unfolded.
The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly assaulted and stabbed several individuals in the vicinity before being apprehended, as stated by Rockford police.
Three individuals were declared deceased at the scene, authorities report.
Another victim, initially in critical condition, was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries later.
Their identities have not yet been revealed.
Additionally, five others sustained injuries, with one in critical condition.
Authorities state that there was “no apparent motive” behind the stabbing spree.
Residents were advised to steer clear of the area during the ongoing investigation.
