Bucknell University officials have identified the student discovered deceased at a fraternity on Saturday as Christian Samay.
Christian, who was slated to graduate this spring, was deeply valued within the Bucknell community.
Bucknell University President John Bravman expressed heartfelt condolences, stating, “This loss is unimaginable for the Bucknell community, and our thoughts are with Christian’s family and friends.”
He clarified that the passing “was not connected to the active shooter alert and subsequent campus lockdown from the previous night.”
State police confirmed the incident as a hoax originating from Virginia. While Samay’s demise doesn’t raise suspicion, further details were not disclosed.
Bravman noted that student support services, including counselors and campus chaplains, are accessible.
The university issued an alert to the campus community at 1:47 p.m. on Saturday regarding the investigation at 78 University Ave., the site of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo stated that the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation and refrained from further comment.
