Carol Hodges Yawn Obituary, Beloved Resident of Savannah, Georgia, Has Sadly Passed Away at age 77

Carol Hodges Yawn Obituary, Death – On March 30, at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, Carol Hodges Yawn, 77, departed from this life. After graduating from Statesboro High School in 1965, Carol lived in Bulloch County her entire life.

Following graduation, she married the love of her life in 1969 and returned to Statesboro after they both graduated from the University of Georgia. When her kids were young, she relished her years as a stay-at-home mother. She later continued her career at Statesboro High School as a counselor, leaving in 2008.

Serving as the Statesboro Service League’s 1984–1985 president, Carol delighted in giving back to her community. She participated in several Bible studies and Sunday School as an active member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church. Later on, she played a key role in the founding of Connection Church, which her family and she regularly attended. C

arol loved her three children more than anything else, and she would rank them as her greatest accomplishment. Her unconditional love for her grandchildren was her true source of happiness. Her entire family, who referred to her as C.C., loved her.

Bruce Yawn, her devoted spouse, her parents, Julian and Sara Reid Hodges, and her husband’s parents, Snooky and Nancy Yawn, preceded Carol in death. Her brother and his wife, Bird and Betty Hodges; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Lynda Yawn; her grandson, Bruce Yawn, Hannah Yawn, Luke Yawn, Davis Wiggins and wife Mikay, Avery Wiggins, Mollie Wiggins, Dake Williams, Jackson Williams, and Reid Williams; her husband, Bobby Yawn; and her sister-in-law, Lynda Yawn, all survive her. She also leaves behind a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, nieces, and nephews.

Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, is the designated visitation time at Connection Church. Brandon Williams will officiate the funeral services on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Connection Church.

After the service, there will be a private burial. The following people will serve as pallbearers: Brannen Hodges, Will, Drew, and Mathis Lanier; Davis Wiggins; Bruce, Luke, and Dake Williams; Reid, and Jackson Williams; and Jack Lanier. The family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to Connection Church, 1342 Cawana Road, Statesboro, Georgia 30461, in place of flowers.
