William “Bill” Braun Obituary, Lifetime Resident of Newtown, Connecticut, Has Passed Away

William “Bill” Braun Obituary, Death – William James Braun of Newtown, Connecticut, and previous longtime resident of Brookfield passed away on March 25, 2024.

On June 17th, 1933, Bill Braun was born to his parents, William Braun and Anna Weiss Braun, in the borough of Brooklyn, New York. Frieda Braun, his wife of 66 years, is the only person who will remember him.

His son James and his wife Barbara Braun of Brookfield, his son Laurence of Newtown, his sister Carol of Trinity, Florida, and his grandchildren Matthew and Rachel Braun are among those who are able to carry on his legacy. His sister, Dorothy Saunders, passed away before he did.

Bill spent his childhood in Queens, New York, and later joined the Navy after completing his education. His education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Hofstra University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut, and he has also worked as a Certified Public Accountant.

Bill served on the Board of Finance for the town of Brookfield, in addition to serving on a large number of other town committees. While serving on the Board of Trustees for Union Savings Bank and the Brookfield Lions Club, he was also a member of the Brookfield Fire Department for a period of forty-two years.

Donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Brookfield Fire Company-Pocono Road, Brookfield, or the Brookfield Lions Club, P.O. Box 660, Brookfield. These organizations are able to receive donations in lieu of flowers. Prince of Peace Cemetery in Brookfield, Connecticut will be the location of the funeral services. It will be at eleven o’clock on Saturday, April 6th.
