Michael Capoot Obituary, Death – After a long struggle with illness, my brother Michael Capoot passed away yesterday. Our hearts are heavy as we share this news. Amanda Capoot, his youngest daughter, was a consistent source of love and support for him on his journey.
She demonstrated tremendous selflessness through her unwavering support, and we are incredibly thankful for her being a part of Mike’s life. When he was down and out, he counted himself lucky to have her by his side.
Love and treasured memories are what Mike leaves behind. Our father passed away, and now Amanda and I are among his surviving children and grandchildren: Dan Capoot, Jennifer Capoot, Elani, and Seth.
A limitless well of love flowed from him to every one of his family members. Private scattering of Mike’s ashes will take place in San Diego at a later date, as per his wishes. To him, it was paramount that we pay tribute to his life in a way that spoke to his soul and gave him comfort.
One of Mike’s final requests was that we play Pink Floyd’s “Great Gig in the Sky” as a memorial to him. His life was filled with moments of reflection and solace brought about by this song, which held immense personal meaning for him.
To grant his wish, we celebrate the songs that made him happy and calm. We remain comforted by the love we shared and the memories we have of Mike, even as we grieve his loss. His memory will be a beacon of hope for all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
We can get through this tough period of mourning and loss by leaning on each other’s love and support. As a community, we will remember Mike and his legacy by living out the values of love, perseverance, and appreciating the present moment.
