Andy Martin Obituary, Death Cause – Andy Martin, who owned and ran the Star and Garter, has tragically died after what is thought to have been a stroke. It was said that the 52-year-old father of two had an ear infection before his health got worse. He passed away after being in the hospital for four days.

Andy was liked by many at the Star and Garter, and he worked hard to keep the popular bar open, even though Network Rail was strongly against it. The important club nights he helped start were great places for up-and-coming artists to show what they could do, and he was a big part of getting bands, artists, and DJs to play at the bar.

Andy took over the well-known tavern on Fairfield Street in 2003 and turned it into a thriving place for live music events. That being said, I hope it stays an important part of Manchester’s music scene for a very long time. When it was first opened in 1803, it was called The Star and Garter Tavern.

It is now located about fifty yards away from where it was first opened. The business, on the other hand, closed in 1849 because the London Road train station grew and was renamed Manchester Piccadilly thereafter. When it reopened as the Star & Garter Hotel in 1877, the bar had been carefully taken apart and put back together where it is now. The process was finished in 1877.

Since the Mayfield train station closed, the tavern, which had been open for more than a hundred years, had to deal with uncertainty for the first time (though it wouldn’t be the last). At that time, Chester’s Brewery, the company that owned it, decided to sell it. Charlie Darlington owned the business from the beginning in 1991 until it closed in 2017, a period of almost 28 years. During this time, it was used as a place for musical acts because people were looking forward to the city council’s plans to improve the city’s infrastructure.

Acts like Arnocorps, Dougie Poynter, Half Man Half Biscuit, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, UK Subs, Subhumans, Bring Me the Horizon, Al Perkins, Corrosion of Conformity, Chuck Mosley, and Status Quo have played on its stage over the years. There are many bands that have played, and many of them are thought to be some of the most famous in the world.
