Marion Byers Obituary Piqua, Marion Byers Has Sadly Passed Away
Marion Byers Obituary , Death Cause – On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., MARION G. “SONNY” BYERS, II, who was 77 years old and from Piqua, Ohio, passed away at the Ohio Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio.
The deaths of his parents, Betty L. (Lansgton) Byers and Marion G. Byers, I., occurred prior to the birth of their son. The 23rd of August, 1946 found him being born in Piqua. Piqua was the location of his wedding to Vickie Byers, which took place on May 12, 1984. She passed away on May 31, 2023, which was several years before he did.
Sonny is also survived by his three sons, James (Angie) Byers of Piqua, Ohio, Michael (Ashley) Byers of Troy, Ohio, and Derrick Orlik of Florida; two sisters, Nancy Ryan of Covington, Ohio and Judy Hughes of Piqua, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Byers and Aaron Byers, Addilynn Byers, and Phoenix Orlik. Sonny passed away on April 15, 2019. Jayte Byers, who was Sonny’s granddaughter, passed away prior to his own passing.
Mr. Sonny graduated from Piqua High School with a diploma. Next, he attended Edison State Community College for a period of two years, during which time he studied Hartzell Propeller. He ultimately graduated from that institution.
Additionally, Sonny was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church, where he worked as an usher before and after services. In addition to that, he donated his time to the Bethany Center in Piqua. While serving his country with honor as a member of the United States Army in Fort Carson, Colorado, from 1965 to 1967, Sonny was employed as a Gas and Diesel Tanker Driver until he was discharged from the military.
Over the course of eleven years, he was employed at Champion Paper. Following his retirement, Sonny went on to work at Hartzell Propeller, where he was employed for a total of 35 years. Specifics regarding a memorial service that will be held in Sonny’s honor to celebrate his life will be disclosed at a later time. The responsibility of providing services has been delegated to the Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, which is located in Piqua, Ohio.
