Robert Powers Obituary, Death Cause – Robert “Bob” Lawrence Powers, who was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 18th, 1939, passed away on March 29th, in Havana, Illinois, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 18th, 1939. His place of birth was Toledo. Bob’s four children, his sons Robert E. Powers and Christopher Powers, his daughters Erin (Colton) Boggs and Katelyn (Trey Bergman) Powers, and his four grandchildren, Robert T. Powers, Raegan Powers, Evelyn Boggs, and Holden Bergman, will miss him in ways that cannot be quantified.
They will miss him in ways that cannot be measured.
In addition to his mother and father, Laura and Edward Powers, he was preceded in death by a significant number of cherished members of his family and friends. The lady who was the love of his life, Bonnie Powers, passed away before him. She was his predecessor in death.
Having completed his education at Toledo Central Catholic, Bob went on to serve with honor in the United States Marine Corps. Along with his four siblings, he was brought up as a devout Catholic and was instructed in the teachings of the Catholic Church throughout his childhood. Following the receipt of an honorable discharge, he traveled to Toledo, Ohio, where he met his future wife Bonnie and eventually married her.
They relocated to Illinois in 1979 in order to raise their family there, and it was in Illinois that he discovered his particular area of competence in sales during his time working at National Standard, Walker/McLean Forge, Sulberg USA, and FPS Inc. Bob put in a lot of effort and was successful in a number of different field of endeavors. He was pleased with everything he had accomplished, but the things that meant the most to him were the positive contributions he could make to the lives of other people.
Bob loved a variety of things during his spare time, including mowing the lawn, playing golf, selling sickle guards and having conversations about them, listening to music or talk radio while driving his Shelby, watching a good baseball game, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
The qualities of a friend, a businessman, and a father were all exemplified by Bob. He was the epitome of all three. In and of itself, the fact that he was able to raise two young children by himself with dignity and determination following the passing of his wife is a tremendous feat in and of itself.
He made sure that everyone who was important to him felt it after a long day of meetings, and he really wanted the best for everyone he came into contact with. He was grateful for the opportunity to meet with everyone. After traveling the world for his business, he returned home to spend time coaching the softball games of his kids. While he was preparing dinner, he engaged in conversation about the highs and lows of his day.
