Earlier today, Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a report of an active shooter incident in Holmes County.
The suspect, reported to be a female, had recently departed from a local hotel and allegedly informed the staff that she intended to embark on a shooting spree, claiming she was directed by “God” in relation to the solar eclipse.
Driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia license plates, the suspect proceeded to enter Interstate 10 (I-10) at the 112-mile marker and headed westbound.
Within a mere 5 miles of accessing the interstate, the suspect discharged multiple rounds into another vehicle traveling along the roadway, striking the passing car several times.
The driver sustained injuries from glass fragments and a grazing bullet wound to the arm. Despite this, he managed to guide his vehicle onto the roadside, away from the suspect.
Continuing her westward journey on I-10, the suspect fired shots at another vehicle near the 107-mile marker, injuring the driver in the neck.
The injured victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Upon receiving the report, responding Troopers swiftly located the suspect near the 96-mile marker and executed a felony traffic stop. Following the apprehension of the suspect, Troopers discovered an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun inside the purple Challenger.
The suspect, identified as Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, of Georgia, was apprehended without resistance and transported to the Holmes County Jail.
She was subsequently charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder
- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon
- Improper Discharge of Firearm
