Reeds Spring Tragedy Charles M. Sutton, a 73-year-old resident of Reeds Spring, was involved in a fatal accident while driving along Talking Rocks Road in Stone County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM on Wednesday, near Waterfield Drive. According to the report, Sutton’s vehicle initially drifted off the right side of the road. In his attempt to correct the course, he overcorrected, crossed over to the opposite side, and tragically struck a tree.
Stone County Coroner John Cunnyngham pronounced Sutton dead at the scene by 4:10 PM the same day. His death marks the 21st fatality in a series of collisions for Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D this year. The local community and Sutton’s family, who have been notified, are mourning the loss of a cherished individual.
Jackson Road Fatality In a separate but equally sorrowful event, a collision in Jackson, New Jersey claimed the life of Carole Stevenson, a 57-year-old paraprofessional working for the Lakewood School District. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Toms River Road and Lakehurst Avenue. Jackson Police report that Stevenson was driving a 2018 Kia on Lakehurst Avenue when she collided with a Jeep driven by Juan Gomez-Bautista of Jackson, after pulling away from a stop sign.
Stevenson was found unresponsive at the scene and was promptly transported by EMS to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 8:00 AM. Having served over a decade in the Lakewood schools, Stevenson’s death is a significant loss to the educational community, where she was revered for her dedication and service.
