Frederick Smith Motorcycle Accident: 54-year-old Chicago man killed in crash involving Salvation Army truck in Rockford, IL.
Following an incident on Wednesday morning at 11th Street and Sandy Hollow Road between a motorcycle and a Salvation Army truck, a 54-year-old man from Chicago passed away.
At 11:11 a.m., the Winnebago County Coroner was dispatched to the scene.
Frederick Smith, the victim, was struck by a Salvation Army box truck on 11th Street while he was turning north on Sandy Hollow Road while traveling west, according to the authorities.
At the scene, he was declared deceased. This week, there have been three motorbike crashes.
Tuesday saw a motorcycle collision near the intersection of Forest Hills and Riverside, requiring the response of Loves Park Police.
After a woman was thrown from a motorcycle on Saturday, Justin Booth, a 41-year-old man, was accused of driving while under the influence of drugs. The 3700 block of E. State Street was the scene of the collision.
