Benjamin Maupin Death: Canyon County Coroner identifies family killed in train collision.

Benjamin Maupin Death – The four individuals from Nampa who lost their lives after their vehicle was struck by a train near Notus on Saturday, April 13, have been identified by the Canyon County Coroner.

The Idaho State Police reported that the family was traveling in a Chevrolet Silverado on a private road that intersects with a railroad crossing in Canyon County. Unfortunately, the driver, Benjamin Maupin, 38 years old, failed to yield and the truck was hit by an oncoming train.

According to the ISP, all four occupants of the vehicle tragically died at the crash site. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, near US-20 at milepost 17. The victims have been identified as Benjamin Maupin, 35-year-old Kapri Maupin, and their two children, 17-year-old Kayden Maupin and 11-year-old Ryder Maupin, as confirmed by the coroner.

Jennifer Crawford, the Canyon County Coroner, emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution when approaching railway crossings.

She expressed her condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating loss, stating, “This event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution when navigating railway crossings.”

The coroner also mentioned that the crash has left the community in shock and cast a somber shadow over the region. According to social media posts and the website of the Mint Barrel Barn Event Center, the Maupin family owned this popular wedding venue in Canyon County.
