Eric Savoy Brown Obituary – Police are currently searching for the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of a man on Monday night in the Graymont area near Legion Field.
Upon receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating 10 shots fired at Graymont Avenue and Center Street, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene.
Prior to their arrival, reports came in that a man had been shot near Sixth Avenue West and Center Street. Upon reaching the location, officers discovered an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound lying behind Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Eric Savoy Brown, 33, of Birmingham, by the coroner.
Investigators suspect that Brown was specifically targeted and that the shooting originated at Graymont Avenue and Center Street.
They believe he managed to run approximately a block before collapsing on Sixth Avenue West. As of now, no suspects are in custody. Authorities urge anyone with information to reach out to them at 205-254-1764 or contact Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
