Guadalupe Chavez Obituary – California Highway Patrol says they are investigating a deadly crash that occurred on Sunday after a vehicle hit a pedestrian in Moss Landing.
At around 10:53 p.m., a woman was walking in the southbound lane of Highway 1 south of Portero Road.
A 42-year-old man from Aptos was driving a blue 2012 Hyundai south on Highway 1 and was approaching the woman, said CHP. That is when the front right of the car hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian landed on the southbound lane of traffic and died of her injuries at the scene.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman killed as Guadalupe Chavez, 41, of Castroville.
CHP said the driver of the Hyundai suffered no injuries and was not arrested.
