Kendra Farler Obituary – The deceased individual in the shooting incident at a Dayton apartment on Sunday has been identified as Kendra Farler, as confirmed by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

An individual aged 38 was taken into custody at the Montgomery County Jail on Sunday afternoon on preliminary charges of murder and possession of weapons while under disability, based on booking records.

Formal charges have not yet been filed as of this afternoon. The Dayton Daily News typically refrains from disclosing the identities of suspects until they have been officially charged.

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, Dayton police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Bowen Street, located just south of U.S. 35, near Xenia Avenue and Steve Whalen Boulevard, in response to a shooting incident. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim, a 15-year-old female, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by Lt. Steven Bauer.

According to records from the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, a 911 caller initially reported the victim as a 12-year-old and mentioned that she had been shot upstairs in an apartment.

The caller indicated that he did not witness the shooting and was unsure if the victim was still breathing. He reported hearing a gunshot followed by screams.
